Materiaalprestaties

Key Properties of Machined Bronze Alloys

Bronze properties vary widely with alloy family, product form and temper. These ranges cover common bearing, aluminum, nickel-aluminum and silicon bronzes.

Bronze raw material stock for CNC machining
Treksterkte207–760 MPa
Vloeigrens95–345 MPa
Brinell-hardheid60–230 HB
Dichtheid7.45–9.25 g/cm³
Elasticiteitsmodulus100–110 GPa
Elektrische geleidbaarheid7–15% IACS

Use the specified UNS grade and material condition for design. Final values must follow the applicable material certificate and standard.

Bronze Grade Selection

Common Bronze Alloys for CNC Parts

Choose the grade around load, sliding speed, lubrication, seawater exposure, strength and regulatory requirements.

C93200 bearing bronze raw material

C93200 Bearing Bronze / SAE 660

A high-leaded tin bronze with good machinability, low friction and anti-seizing behavior. Its strength is lower than aluminum bronze.

Control Tool Adhesion

Sharp tools and positive geometry reduce rubbing, smearing and built-up edge.

02

Match the Alloy

Bearing bronze and aluminum bronze require different speeds, feeds and tool strategies.

03

Protect Thin Walls

Light, distributed clamping limits distortion in bushings, sleeves and split components.

04

Verify Functional Bores

Bearing diameters, roundness and alignment are checked from the drawing datum system.

Vragen over het project

Plan Your Bronze Machining Project

Is brass easily machinable?
Yes. Free-machining grades such as C36000 cut quickly and produce short chips. Lead-free and high-strength brass require adjusted tooling, feeds and cooling.
What are the challenges of machining bronze?
Bronze grades differ greatly in hardness, abrasiveness and chip behavior. Sharp tools, rigid setups and controlled cutting parameters reduce tool wear, burrs and dimensional variation.
How can bronze part machining costs be reduced?
Choose a machinable grade and standard stock size, limit tight tolerances to functional features, avoid unnecessarily deep or narrow geometry, and combine parts into efficient production batches.
