Lap joint flange

Lap Joint

Uses a loose flange over a stub end. Choose for alignment and frequent disassembly.

Threaded flange

Threaded

Connects through internal threads without welding. Choose where welding is restricted and pressure is limited.

Orifice flange

Orifice

Flange Machining FAQ

Quick answers to common flange selection and measurement questions.

What Is a Flange?

A flange connects pipes, valves, pumps and other equipment with bolts and a gasket. It supports installation, inspection and removal.

How to Measure Flange Size?

Measure the outside diameter, bore, thickness, bolt circle, bolt-hole diameter and hole count. Compare them with the required standard and pressure class.

What Is a Blind Flange?

A blind flange is a solid flange without a center bore. It seals the end of a pipe, valve or vessel opening.

When Is a Flange Needed?

Use a flange when a secure, removable connection is needed for installation, maintenance or replacement.

What Do RF, FF and RTJ Mean?

RF is Raised Face, FF is Flat Face and RTJ is Ring Type Joint. Select the face by the flange standard, pressure, temperature, medium and gasket.
