Copper Machining
Copper is a highly conductive metal commonly used for electrical connectors, terminals, ports, and electronic interface components.
Common copper material
Different copper grades provide varying levels of conductivity, strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability for diverse industrial applications.
| Brass Grade | Caractéristiques | Applications typiques |
|---|---|---|
C36000 (C3604) | Excellent machinability and dimensional stability | Precision CNC parts, fittings, connectors |
| C37700 | Good strength and forging performance | Valves, plumbing fittings, hardware |
| C26000 | High ductility and corrosion resistance | Electrical terminals, connectors, fasteners |
| H59 | High strength and good machinability | Brass nuts, valves, mechanical components |
| H62 | Good ductility and corrosion resistance | Electrical parts, precision machined components |
CW614N (CZ121) | Free-cutting brass with excellent chip control | Threaded parts, fittings, precision CNC components |
Density: 8.90–8.96 g/cm³
Copper has a high density, giving machined parts good stability and a solid structure for connectors, terminals, and busbars.
Electrical Conductivity: 80–101% IACS
Copper offers excellent conductivity, making it ideal for terminals, contact pins, electronic ports, and power transmission parts.
Thermal Conductivity: 300–401 W/m·K
Copper transfers heat quickly, so it is widely used for heat sinks, cooling plates, and thermal management components.
Hardness: 40–110 HB
Copper has moderate hardness, balancing machinability, formability, wear resistance, and dimensional stability.
Tensile Strength: 200–360 MPa
Copper provides enough strength for moderate loads while keeping good ductility for precision machined parts.
Yield Strength: 50–300 MPa
Higher yield strength helps copper parts resist permanent deformation in terminals, clips, busbars, and conductive structures.
Elongation: 15–50%
Good elongation allows copper parts to withstand bending, stamping, crimping, and assembly without cracking easily.
Traitement de surface
Copper parts can be finished with polishing, plating, and anti-oxidation treatments to improve conductivity, solderability, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and appearance.
Traitement de surface | Fonction principale | Applications courantes |
Polissage mécanique | Improves brightness and removes machining marks | Decorative parts, small copper parts |
Polissage chimique | Cleans and brightens complex surfaces | Batch parts, irregular copper parts |
Électropolissage | Creates a smoother and brighter finish | Precision parts, high-end components |
Passivation / Anti-oxidation | Reduces oxidation, darkening, and verdigris | Conductive parts, electronic components |
Tin Plating | Improves solderability and oxidation resistance | Terminals, connectors, electronic interfaces |
Nickelage | Enhances corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and hardness | Mechanical copper parts, connectors |
Silver Plating | Improves conductivity and contact stability | Contacts, terminals, precision connectors |
Gold Plating | Provides excellent oxidation resistance and stable conductivity | High-end electronic contacts and interfaces |
Brossage | Creates a matte or satin surface texture | Panels, decorative copper parts |
Revêtement par poudre | Adds color and surface protection | Housings, decorative structural parts |
