Drawing-led manufacturing
Capability Confirmed Against Each Feature
We review datum strategy, material condition, tolerance stack, inspection access and finishing sequence before quotation.
| Project Item | Evaluation Basis |
|---|---|
| General dimensions | Controlled drawing or an agreed general-tolerance standard |
| Fits and GD&T | ISO 286, ISO 1101, ASME Y14.5 or the drawing-specified standard |
| Tolleranze critiche | Quoted by feature after process and inspection review |
| Surface condition | Drawing-defined roughness, finish and accessible geometry |
| Inspection method | CMM, optical measurement, height measurement or gauges |
A blanket ±0.005 mm tolerance does not apply to every feature. Capability depends on material, geometry, setup and measurement method.
Medical material planning
Materials for Medical Industry Part
Specify the exact grade, condition, material standard, sterilization exposure and certificate requirements; material designation alone does not establish biocompatibility.
Acciaio inox
Corrosion-resistant grades for instruments, fluid components, housings and cleanable equipment parts.

Titanio
High strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance for specialised instruments and device components.

Alluminio
Lightweight and thermally conductive grades for equipment housings, fixtures and non-implant structural parts.

Ingegneria delle materie plastiche
Low-weight, insulating, low-friction and chemical-resistant options for functional medical-equipment components.

Inspection and traceability
Evidence Matched to Critical Features
Inspection methods and records are agreed before production so critical dimensions and release requirements remain traceable.
- Controllo dei disegni e delle revisioni
- Controllo dimensionale con CMM
- Optical and height measurement
- Certificati dei materiali, se specificati
- Lot and treatment traceability when agreed
- Customer-defined inspection reports
CoC, first-article records, dimensional reports and treatment certificates are supplied only when agreed before order acceptance.

Medical project controls
Define Compliance Inputs Before Production
Customer requirements must identify the component's device role, applicable standards and required manufacturing records.
Define Intended Use
State the component function, device interface and market destination.
Confirm Material
Specify grade, condition, certificate and substitution restrictions.
Control Drawing
Provide revision, datums, tolerances and critical characteristics.
Set Surface Needs
Define roughness, finish, cleaning and prohibited residues.
Plan Inspection
Agree measurement methods, sampling and report formats.
Approve Release
Confirm traceability, packaging, labelling and shipping records.

Buyer questions
Medical CNC Machining FAQs
Direct answers to common sourcing questions about cost, tolerances, materials, compliance and documentation.
How much does CNC machining for a medical-device component cost?
Pricing depends on material, geometry, tolerances, quantity, finishing, inspection and documentation. Send your 2D drawings and 3D models for an accurate quotation.
What tolerances can be achieved?
Tolerances are evaluated by feature according to the drawing, material, geometry, setup and inspection method. A universal tight tolerance does not apply to every dimension.
Which medical requirements can be reviewed?
Weldo is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Customer-defined ISO 13485, FDA QMSR, EU MDR, ISO 14971 and ISO 10993 requirements can be reviewed during quotation.
Can materials be supplied with certificates?
Yes. Material certificates and lot traceability can be provided when specified before production.
Are PEEK, titanium and stainless steel automatically biocompatible?
No. Biocompatibility depends on the finished device, manufacturing process, surface condition, sterilization method and intended contact.
Can parts be supplied cleaned or ready for sterilization?
Cleaning, residue control and protective packaging can be arranged according to customer specifications. Parts are not described as sterile without a validated sterilization process.
What inspection documents are available?
Available documents may include CoC, material certificates, dimensional reports, first-article records and surface-treatment certificates when agreed before production.
Can Weldo support prototypes and repeat orders?
Yes. Weldo supports prototypes, low-volume production and repeat orders with controlled drawings, revisions and inspection requirements.
Can AI write CNC programs for medical components?
AI-assisted software can support toolpath and parameter planning, but CNC programs must still be reviewed, simulated and verified by qualified personnel.
